Important Announcement: Membership Fees

Dear SASA Community,

We’re excited to share a positive update regarding SASA membership.

From this year onward, SASA membership has been set at R200 per year, positioned as a simple administrative fee. This covers essential systems and membership administration, while keeping the cost of being part of SASA as accessible as possible.

At its heart, SASA has always been about community — bringing together people who care deeply about wine, hospitality, education, and professional growth. By lowering the barrier to entry, we want to ensure that no matter where you are on your wine journey, there is a place for you within the SASA family.

This change allows us to be more inclusive and welcoming to:

• young sommeliers starting out,

• students and emerging professionals,

• and anyone looking to grow within our industry.

At the same time, we recognise and value our established, senior, and long-standing members who have helped shape SASA into what it is today. The new, lower membership fee creates an opportunity for this experienced core of our community to mentor, guide, and support the next generation of sommeliers joining our ranks.

In this way, SASA becomes not just an association — but a true professional network where knowledge, experience, and passion are shared across all levels.

We’re looking forward to building a broader, more connected, and more inclusive SASA — and we’re glad to have you with us as we move forward.
